I can't find your BGG profile to do a comparison between our tastes. I looked through all 13 pages of Dave's with avatars looking for people in California who owned Domaine. :)

For me, an 8 is a very good rating. So far, Domaine lacks that certain something that gives a game an 8.5 or a 9. I also haven't played with more than 2 players yet.

Okay, I suppose I need to look at your own 9+ games to speculate as to what constitutes "that certain something". FWIW, I've never played 2p Domaine, I don't care to, and I wouldn't imagine it to be that satisfying.
